Your industrial floor scrubber or sweeper keeps your workplace clean and safe. Therefore, proper maintenance is crucial. This helps extend the machine’s lifespan and saves you time and money. Want your floor scrubber or sweeper to maintain peak performance for longer? Follow these recommendations to keep your machine working at its best.

1. Before Each Use:

A. Check Battery Level: Before starting work, ensure the floor scrubber or sweeper’s battery is fully charged. This allows your machine to start working at its best—like a coffee to perk you up before work. This allows you to perform at your peak. If the battery is low, charge it.

B. Check Cleaning Brushes or Pads: If the cleaning brushes or pads are worn out, you won’t achieve the clean, shiny floors you want. However, checking the wear and tear of the cleaning brushes or pads before cleaning will make the job easier. Replace them if they are in poor condition. Unsure which type of brush or pad you need? Please see this blog post for information on brushes, and this blog post for information on cleaning pads.

C. Check the condition of the squeegee: A squeegee must be sturdy and durable to effectively clean floors. A worn squeegee will make cleaning floors much more difficult. The good news is that a squeegee always scrapes in the same direction, so if your squeegee is worn, you can easily flip it over to extend its lifespan. This means you don’t have to buy a new squeegee every time.

D. Ensure the wastewater tank is empty and the filter is clean: The faster you finish cleaning, the better. Therefore, never start cleaning with water still in the wastewater tank of an industrial floor scrubber. Residual water will cause the wastewater tank to fill up faster, and you will soon need to stop working and empty it. To save time, ensure the wastewater tank is empty before you start cleaning. Also, check that the filter is clean and usable.

E. Check the brush head skirt: If the brush head skirt is damaged, it can cause problems during operation. But completely avoiding this problem is actually quite simple! Check it before you start working. Check the brushes for wear—if they are, replace them. Unsure which brush to buy? Dailis offers a full range of brushes, making it easy to find the right accessory for your machine.

F. Fill the cleaning solution tank: Cleaning floors with dirty water won’t work. Use clean water every time for better results. Ensure the cleaning solution tank is filled with clean water (maximum temperature 60°F/16°C) and only use cleaning agents approved for industrial scrubbing. Prepare the cleaning solution before starting to clean, and floor cleaning will be a breeze.

2. After each use:

A. Empty and clean the wastewater tank: Now it’s time to clean up all the dirt you just removed from the floor. Before emptying the wastewater tank, ensure the machine is turned off. Then, straighten the hose to remove the cap. Finally, place the hose in the drain when emptying the wastewater tank. Before storing the floor scrubber, ensure the wastewater tank is clean and empty so everything is ready for the next use.

B. Empty and Rinse the Solution Tank: Drain the remaining cleaning solution from the solution tank and rinse thoroughly. Ensure no residue remains to prevent long-term scale buildup and contamination of the water added for the next use.

C. Remove and Clean the Solution Tank Filter: The filter should be cleaned each time the solution tank is cleaned. This removes dirt and prevents it from damaging the system. Cleaning the filter is very simple; just rinse with water. It takes only a few minutes, and your floor scrubber will be ready to work next time.

D. Remove and Clean the Brushes or Pads: The brushes or pads may not have been worn before cleaning, but what is their condition now? Be sure to check. If they appear heavily worn, replace the brushes or pads to prepare the machine for the next cleaning. If the brushes or pads still look good, simply clean them thoroughly to prevent yesterday’s dirt from remaining on tomorrow’s floor.

E. Clean the Squeegee Blades: When cleaning the squeegee blades, rinse them thoroughly with water to ensure all dirt is removed. Are the blades worn? If only one side is worn, flip them over. However, if both sides are worn, the blades need to be replaced.

F. Clean the Machine: Your industrial floor scrubber needs a thorough cleaning after a day’s work. You’ll need a bottle of multi-purpose cleaner and a damp cloth; simply clean the machine inside and out. A thorough cleaning will ensure a quick start next time you clean your floors.

G. Charge the Battery: Charge the battery after each use of the machine for 30 minutes or more. This will ensure your floor scrubber is ready for the next use. Does your machine use a deep-cycle battery? If so, ensure the battery fluid level is normal.

Hopefully, following these maintenance tips will keep your industrial floor scrubber or sweeper in optimal condition and extend its lifespan.
